The Kite Runner #5

So this will be my last blog for summer reading and today is the last day of break! Haha so I've finished The Kite Runner and when I to try to think of a certain feeling I can't sum it all up to one, this book is full of emotions, or well for me it did. Since chapter 20 and as I predicted it was all going to be full of mixed emotions for many of the characters and especially Amir. Sohrab the son of Hassan was to be adopted by Amirbut officials says he was already adopted by a Taliban official so Amir makes an appointment with this official and this person is to be Assef, the character known for rapping Hassan. Amir is then beaten by Assef and Sohrab is to become the hero of this scene, he takes his slingshot and shoots at Assef's eye, with enough time they ran away. After Amir's recovering he tries to adopt Sohrab but the officials tell them he cant because they arent certain that his parents are dead or alive. Sohrab then tries to kill himself but fails which is really sad because he is very young and he has lost his dad already. The book ended with happiness Amir buys Sohrab a kite and beats another spotted kite, Amir then runs the kite for Sohrab in victory. I believe this would be the 5th best book that I've read, it was the most "worth-it" book to read this summer out of all the books I have read.

The Kite Runner #4

I grow more amorous for this book with every every chapter that I finish reading, and I love how some of the words in the italics are defined, I find it really clever. It seems as if there are no boring chapters in the book and that there is always something up with the upcoming chapters that I always intend to read. I am glad to be almost done with this book, and chapter 25 will take me into a experience that I have never experience before and I know it. As I read this novel I try to put my self into Amir's point of view, and when I do that I understand that Amir is having a difficult time with many situations such as those with Hassan.

The Kite Runner #3

Chapter 12
Amir meets a girl named Soraya, whom is the daughter of General Sahib and I feel that they have something for each other, Amir shows it in his actions and it amuses me. Later on in the reading Baba is taken to a doctor and discovers that he had found a spot in his lungs which may be a sign of possible cancer, Amir wants Baba to give chemo a chance but Baba refuses and its really sad to know that Baba has a chance of having this cancer and Amir does not know what to do if Baba dies. In the next scene Baba had a seizure which frightened me and it became very intense when Amir was kneeling beside Baba holding his hand and said " I'm here Baba, I'm here, you'll be all right, I'm right here. " At the end of chapter 12 Soraya and Amir talks on the phone discussing about marriage and how Soraya ran away from home with an Afghan man at the age of eighteen and soon later caught by Padar, Amir accepted this knowing that he still wants to marry Soraya.

The Kite Runner # 2

I am really having a thrill ride with this book! I really love reading it, one of the most interesting books I've read in my life! I guess reading the best for last is working for me. I am on page 130 as of now and I am planning to go to read to page 200 tonight and finish the rest later. Many things has happened in the book in a few pages. Amir finally confessed about what had happened to Hassan and after reading a few pages after that I felt a feeling of depression, I was so sad that Hassan and his father had to leave, Amir just had lost his best friend and that's painful. The more depressing part was when Amir was not accepting Hassan when Hassan wanted Amir to go with him to the market. Another thing that was surprising to me was when Baba put his life on the line to be a hero, thank god that he did not die. This book is full of intensity and I could feel it!

The Kite Runner #1

So I've started on The Kite Runner finally, which is the book that I was most excited for to read during this summer and so far its pretty swell. I love how the book is very descriptive but sometimes I get really confused the names. The part that I most enjoyed so far in the reading is the part where Amir the main character wins the kite running tournament, I enjoyed it because I felt as if I was there, I can picture the whole setting and what is going on. Though I felt sad for Amir in the beginning of the book because of the way that Baba felt for him. I stopped on page 100 so the next chapter I will be reading is chapter nine, and today I plan to read to page 180. I'm still actually excited to read this book, I think I'm reading a lot because of this feeling of excitement!

Their Were Watching God #5

So finally I finished reading Their Were Watching God and I didn't really enjoy much of it, I only enjoyed some of the parts of the book. I enjoyed the parts where there was challenges brought up between Janie and her significant others, also the part were the dog was killed by Tea Cake and how Tea Cake died. I love the ending though because it brings so much thought, I kept on thinking about my own life and my own relationship and how it really is, and what there is more to learn about as I grow to love others.. This was a short book and took me about four days worth of reading but I wasn't able to find as much interesting sections of the book and put a post-it on them as I did with What is The What. Oh and I got Kite Runner and that will be my last book that I would have to read this summer, I heard it was a good book so I am so excited.

Their Eyes Were Watching God #4

So this is my fourth blog on Their Eyes Watching God and after reading chapter 18, Janie the main character is shown to be a true lover towards Tea Cake. To me Tea Cake seems to take Janie for granted and I don't think that he should do so, Janie is such a kind person towards everybody and very pleasing. In chapter 18 there is a major tragedy in which there is a storm and many people are in fear of this "Lake Okechobee" to come by wind. Oh and many parts of this chapter was very interesting such as the part where Janie had grabbed hold of a cow's tail and was saved . I find chapter 18 the most intense section of the book because it contains so much actions! Yes! This book is getting really intense for me but it seems to be coming real close an end..

Their Eyes Were Watching God #3

Well this is my third time reading the book and this is my third time doing a blog on this book. I read from page 100 to page 153 which is the end of chapter 17 of the book. I'm starting to dislike this book because many of the pages don't deal so much with the character, and I think that this book should be more based on the character and not on the the character's relations. I feel bad for Janie for the most part because all her relationships to me are bad, and I thought Tea Cake was mentioned in Chapter 1 and I checked that out and he "was" mentioned. So I am presuming that maybe at the ending of the book will reveal the "Tea Cake" that was mentioned in Chapter 1. The next time I read I will be able to finish this book, so YAY!

Their Eyes Were Watching God #2

Whew! It's very late and I got through 80 pages so I am at page 100 now. Now that I am further into the book I think that this book isn't that great, the chapters are short and most of the pages in the book seems to be just "fillers." Chapter 6 barely had anything related to the main character until the ending of the chapter. Another thing that I have recognized is that I enjoy the beginning and end of chapters but in between is not a ride for me. Chapter 10 is the chapter that I enjoy the most for I find joy in Janie and how happy she became after the many years with Jody. The thing I like the most in this book is how the author describes things and how the metaphors are so intriguing to me, also the book mentions love a lot which helps inject me into finding interest in book temporarily.

Their Eyes Were Watching God #!1

Okay, so I just started reading Their Eyes Were Watching God and I just read up to Chapter 3. It's not a lot of pages to start off with but the first chapter was able to help me catch the rhythm of how I should be reading this book. It's way more easier to understand when reading aloud, though some words in the book really caught me in confusion such as chillun and Ah. I figured out that Ah meant I with the clue that Ah has a capital A and I figured out that chillun meant children by sounding it out. The first three chapters were poetic to me in ways that there were many metaphors used in the text. I am not fond or excited to continue reading this book but as I continue I might fall into interest to do so.

What is The What #5

So this will be my last blog about What is The What. After reading this whole book, I learned more about reality. I learned that life in different areas of the world may be more harsh than in areas in which we are living in, we don't have areas in which we are being hunted. Reading this book also helped me realize that others go through experiences that we can't even imagine, I would be scared to death knowing that I might be eaten by a lion or being branded on my head. So from reading this book I just actually learned to just enjoy the most of my life. We as people may go through the worst experiences in life but those who fail are those who give up, I think that reading this book can give different perspectives on life to many people, Its worth reading and I recommend others to read it as well.

What is The What #4

So I was up last night reading What is The What and I have finally finished it. I started on Chapter 23. I am not sure what conversation I should bring to this blog so I picked one of the bullet points on the green paper. This book besides entertainment brings such feelings to me, the stories bring feelings to me by the stories that Valentino tells. In some way this book expands my thinking by trying to think what I would do in situations that Valentino was in. Oh, and the toasting of fantas was very amusing to me as well as other parts in the book. There are many post it notes that I plugged into the book and one of them left me with a mood of sadness and that one would be the part that Noriyaki died. I will continue my other blog discussing the rest of the passage that I read.

What is The What #3

Okay I have taken a break from blogging to read more. I am so close to finishing this book and I am happy that I am. The passage that I've read recently impresses me in the way that Valentino is acting and the things that happen in this this passage, such as the part in the book where Tabitha's cousins play "hide-and-seek" as they call it. What they call " hide-and-seek" surprises me because they are very young to be committing such actions. It's funny how Valentino played along with it well, I was very well amused. The passage I read was interesting but it became horrifying when it came to the part that described briefly on how Tabitha died, if i was in Tabitha's friend's shoes I would be traumatized. Now that I am already finished with this book I have already rented out two books that I have chosen to read from the list.

What is The What #2

As I read, many words came out of my mouth, wow and woah really! haha I have read many pages throughout this day this time, I read pages 71 to 143. It seems as if I cant put myself to stop when reading this book. The whole passage that I read was able to draw me in and I was not once pulled away from the novel. I put yellow post-it notes on pages in which I recognized myself in awe, on page 121 mentions a part where Deng tells a story to Valentino in which he shat his pants hiding in the town school and by doing so the soldiers weren't able to find him. Although, on page 134 "what is the What" is mentioned and I am still currently confused with what it means, but as I get in deeper within the book I shall discover this "What"

What is The What #1

Okay so I have started reading What is The What and so far I really enjoy it. I have read 70 pages into the book and I find it really interesting. The main character is being robbed which brings in a scene in which I enjoyed reading. The book is very detailed which helps me as I read. The many stories Valentino tells the audience is what attracts me to this book, they seem to magnetize me closer to this book. I get all sorts of emotions as I read this book as well, as Valentino was getting robbed I felt really sad for him because no one was there to help him. I am so excited to read many of the pages left for this book!

How To Read Literature Like a Professor #5

Finally! I thought that there was more to read after chapter 26 but there was only the envoi, appendix, and acknowledgments. So for this blog I would like discuss my thoughts on this book. I think that after reading this book, I have learned a lot from it. It helped me realize that there are way more things to think about when reading a book. I do already think about many things when reading a book but this book was able to extend my imagination and thoughts. I also came to realize that most stories do come from "the originals." I have more books to read this summer and I will use these ideas to advance in my readings.

How To Read Like a Professor #4

Okay for the weekend I have read chapters 17 to 26. I know,I know in the other blogs that I have written previously, I have been complaining about many things such as the repetitive ideas the author brings and how the noting of books in the book brings distraction to my reading, but now I am no longer aggravated by this book. I came to realize that the book is very beneficial to my current way of reading books. Chapter 17 was the chapter I adored most, It was really interesting in the beginning. It told me to write a sex scene and it was challenging for me to do so. It says that in chapter 17 that when authors write about sex they are really trying to convey something else. This confused me so it caught my attention. After reading chapter 17 I realized that even thought sex is mentioned its action may convey another message other than just sex. Quite interesting and I really enjoyed reading this weekend.

How To Read Like a Professor #3

I've stayed up late at night reading this book which is something I like to do for all the books I read. I was able to read chapters 10 to 16 and all the chapters read were very intriguing to me. The author finally put new ideas into the book and I happy that he did so. Yet he tells of such stories in which I find useless because I dont find myself comfortable reading such books that just give a ton of information. I like to read books that has a story such as the book "The Outsiders", which was a fantastic book in my opinion. Though this book is less attracting to me than many others I will continue to read this book to better myself in my thoughts as I read.

How To Read Literature Like a Professor #2

As I continue to read this book it is becoming more of an enemy to me. I read and read, and many of the ideas are still so similar to me. I do agree on the ideas of where literature is coming from but why must this book be so repetitive. I like to read books that brings such strength to the main points of the book. I believe that this repetition of ideas is one of the authors weaknesses in writing the book. I know I must continue to read this book andI will not let the repetition of ideas tackle me down because I am still so early in the book.

I have started reading How to Read Literature Like a Professor and I am so far very fond of it. It as well has, to me, humorous chapter titles as I had seen in the contents. While I was reading I noticed that the author notes many books and it distracts my way of reading the book. The author easily confuses me while i read this book. He brings so much ideas into one chapter. I've read a few chapters and It seemed as if the chapters were really repetitive. I am starting to dislike this book.
